Woman seriously injured in horror multi-vehicle crash on the M7 in Tipperary

A woman has been left with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on the M7 on Monday.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1.20pm after the collision happened on the M7 near Ballywilliam in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

The horror crash involved a number of cars and a truck.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror that a female driver of one of the cars was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

It is understood that she is in a serious condition, while two other women are also receiving treatment after the crash.

In a statement, officers confirmed: “Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a number of collisions on the M7, today, Monday, December 6, 2021.

“At approximately 1.20pm, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on the M7 near Ballywilliam in Nenagh, Co Tipperary. The collision involved a number of cars and a truck.

“The driver of one of the cars (female) has since been taken to University Hospital Limerick where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries. Two other women are also receiving treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“No other serious injuries have been reported at this time.”

The M7 remains closed between Junction 26 (Nenagh) and Junction 27 (Birdhill), with local diversions in place.

A technical examination will now take place at the scene, but no further information is available at this time.
