Woman seriously injured in footpath assault as police hunt female attacker

A woman was seriously injured after she was attacked by another woman on a footpath.

The victim, aged 41, was on a footpath near to Raeburn Rigg, Livingston, when she was assaulted at around 11pm on June 4.

The victim was taken to the town's St John's Hospital for treatment and was later released.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in West Lothian.

The suspect is described as aged around 50, of slim build with blonde hair.

Detective Sergeant John Bowerbank, from Livingston police station, said: "This appears to have been a violent unprovoked attack which left the woman with a serious injury.

"I am appealing to anyone in the area at that time who saw anything to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1231 of June 6 2020 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
