Woman 'seriously injured' after horror hit and run in Glasgow as cops launch probe

Police have launched a probe after a woman suffered "serious injuries" following a horror hit and run in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to Old Shettleston Road near the junction with Duror Street in the east end of the city after the incident happened at around 9pm on Friday, August 20.

A black Vauxhall Astra collided with a woman and then failed to stop.

Ambulance crews attended and the 20-year-old woman was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Her injuries have been described as serious, but not life threatening.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Police Constable Jack McQueen, of Shettleston response policing, said: “This incident has left a woman in hospital with serious injuries and we are appealing to the public to help trace those responsible.

“If you were in the area at the time of the incident and have any information that could assist with our investigation, please speak to officers.

“I would also ask if there are any motorists who have dashcam footage of the area to get in contact with police.”

Officers can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 3661 of Friday, August 20.
