Woman seriously injured after falling off bike on Luas track

A woman was left seriously injured after falling off her bike on a Luas track.

The incident occurred on Dawson Street in Dublin on Tuesday night.

Gardai and other emergency services rushed to the scene of the freak accident.

The road is currently closed, meaning the tram line is interrupted between St Stephen's Green and O'Connell Street.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident on Dawson Street this evening, Tuesday 28th September 2021.

"A woman was seriously injured when she fell from her pedal cycle on the Luas track. She is being treated at the scene by emergency services.

"The road is currently closed to traffic and the Luas service is interrupted between St. Stephen's Green and O'Connell Street Upper."
