Woman seriously injured after empty car rolled backwards and hit her

A woman is seriously injured in hospital after an empty car rolled backwards and hit her.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm yesterday on Spring Rise in Shaw, Oldham.

Police were called to reports of a collision between an empty car and a 35-year-old woman.

The car rolled backwards before hitting the woman, police said.

She was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries.

She remains there in a serious condition.

Several police vehicles were pictured stationed on Spring Rise after the incident yesterday.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 12.30pm on Sunday 3 October 2021, police were called to reports of a collision between a unoccupied car and a 35-year-old woman on Spring Rise, Oldham.

"Enquiries have established that the car rolled backwards, colliding with the woman.

"Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition."
