Woman seriously injured after being struck by a car which mounted kerb and hit wall

A woman was left with serious injuries after she was struck by a car which mounted the kerb and hit a wall.

Emergency services were called to Navigation Road, in Altrincham, following the collision on Saturday, November 16.

It is understood a blue Ford car mounted the pavement and then ploughed into a wall just after 6.30pm.

The woman was taken to hospital by the ambulance service with serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers arrested a man on suspicion of driving offences.

He has since been released under investigation.

A large police cordon was placed around the vehicle following the incident.

Officers could be seen working at the scene and the road was shut late into Saturday night.

Greater Manchester Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, particularly those who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

A GMP spokeswoman said: "The woman involved did suffer serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"A man was arrested. He has since been released under investigation.

"Enquiries are still ongoing."
