Woman seriously injured after being hit by car outside Bow Church station

A woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a car outside an east London station in the early hours of Thursday.

Police and paramedics were called to the A11 Bow Road, outside Bow Church DLR station, following the collision around 4.40am.

The woman was taken to an east London hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

Bow Church station was shut on Thursday following the crash, while a section of A11 Bow Road was also closed in both directions at the junctions with Campbell Road and Fairfield Road.

Both had reopened by around 11.30am.

The woman’s injuries are understood to be “potentially life-threatening and changing”.

The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to an east London police station.

Motorists were warned to expect traffic disruption in the area of the crash on Thursday.
