Woman seriously injured after being hit by car in Stockport

A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by a car in Stockport.

Emergency services were called to Stockport Road in Marple just before 2.15pm on Monday (October 19).

A female pedestrian, believed to be in her 60s, had suffered injuries after a collision with a car, police said.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is helping with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

Stockport Road from Dooley Lane to Weatherley Drive was closed for several hours whilst police carried out investigations.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Just before 2.15pm on 19 October, officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Stockport Road.

"A woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in stable condition.

"No arrests were made, and the driver of the vehicle is helping police with their enquiries.

"The road was closed for some time whilst an investigation took place."
