Woman seriously injured after being hit by car in Dumfries

A woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Dumfries .

The 53-year-old female was struck by a blue coloured Vauxhall Corsa which was driven by a 56-year-old woman.

The accident happened at the junction of Munches Street and Loreburn Street at around 3.57pm yesterday.

Following the incident the pedestrian was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury, where she remains.

Constable Callum Ruddick said: "We know from CCTV in the area that there were a number of people in the vicinity at the time of this collision.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 2480 17/7."
