Teenager seriously injured after being hit by car

A teenager was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Oldham.

The pedestrian, aged 17, was rushed to hospital following the smash on Glodwick Road this morning (Friday).

The road has been taped off in both directions following the 8am smash.

An ambulance spokeswoman could not confirm whether the woman's injuries were life threatening.

She said: "We were called at 8am this morning to reports of a collision. We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an advanced paramedic.

"The crash was between a vehicle and a pedestrian. A female patient was taken to hospital."

A GMP spokeswoman said: "We were called at 8am to reports of a collision. A 17-year-old was seriously injured."

TfGM tweeted about the crash, warning motorists about delays in the area.

The A669 Lees Road is expected to be busier than usual, the post said.
