Woman sent death threats by trolls after sharing photos dressed up as fantasy characters

A plus-sized cosplayer has bravely stood up to cruel internet trolls who have fat-shamed her and sent her death threats.

Anita Riggs, who is known as Tranquil Ashes on social media, posts pictures online of her dressing up as fantasy characters from the Star Wars, Pokemón and Resident Evil universes.

The pictures have been bombarded with horrific comments about her body and the freelance makeup artist was forced to block dozens of trolls.

Writing as her cosplaying alter-ego Tranquil Ashes, the cosplayer said: "Ever since I posted this cosplay last week the amount of bullying, death threats, [people] saying I'm gonna die and harassment I've received is staggering.

"I'm being bullied to death. I'm tired. These are just a fraction of comments, I've blocked dozens of people. I deserve to be here, I am worthy, talented - but I had to vent and get this off my chest.

"I'm exhausted from this, I'm human too. Like can y'all stop?"

Speaking out and offering advice to others who may be receiving similar messages, Anita said: "There have been plenty of times where I've received negative and abusive comments.

"Unfortunately, when putting yourself out to the masses people are going to judge. Whether it be unfair or truthful people will judge.

"I've been told I was going to die, that I will eat my own characters, memes being made regarding my weight, the works.

"The most painful comments are always the ones that comment on perhaps me dying or memes. Memes live longer than comments on a picture and no one wants a negative meme made about them.

"If you're being trolled for doing something you love, the world is truly looking at your gift and wishing they could be you with your talents. I say use that energy and flip it into the drive to propel you to your goals. You got this."

Despite the abuse, Anita remains defiant and refuses to let the negative comments stop her from enjoying her cosplay hobby.

She said: "I have a real, hard problem quitting anything, I don't know what giving up is like.

"I may have a day or two when I need to separate myself from the internet and recoup and make sure my mental and emotional needs are met and return with a new vigour."
