Woman selling swimming costume on eBay asked to wear it before posting to buyer

A woman was disgusted after a man who bought a swimming costume from her on eBay asked her to wear it before she sent it.

Romance novelist Lucy Taylor, 37, came across the six-month old Nike costume during a massive clear-out.

She listed the swimwear on the auction site, along with 30 other items, including linen trousers and vintage dresses.

Despite bids starting at just 99p, the black swimsuit sold for £10.50 on Saturday, to a man based in The Netherlands.

But Lucy, from Lincoln, was "creeped out" 30 minutes later when she received a message from the buyer, asking her to wear it before she posted it, Manchester Evening News reports.

The email said: "Hi :)

"I have a question, is it possible for you to wear the swimsuit before shipping it?

"Best regards."

Lucy still shipped the item, but not before conveying her initial disgust by uploading a screenshot of the email onto Facebook .

Now, she said she sees the funny side.

"The funny thing about it is that I thought it was an unremarkable swimming costume, and I didn't have an eBay profile picture," she said.

"I was having a big clear-out because I buy so many vintage clothes, when I figured I'd stick them all on eBay.

"I didn't expect to get a message - on eBay - from him, asking me to wear the swimming costume before I sent it to him.

"I never responded to him, I never wore the swimming costume, or take a picture, and I sent the costume as promised.

"But it wasn't hard to deduce why someone would want to see me wear it.

"I couldn't believe someone could do that sort of thing on eBay - I thought that website might be safe from perverts.

"There are websites where people can do that, and I'm open-minded enough to think other people can do that sort of thing if they want.

"But I'm not that kind of girl. The assumption was repellent."
