A woman who was dumped by her husband for her best friend has had the last laugh by winning a record double lottery jackpot. The woman from Barranquilla, Colombia, claimed a 1.5 billion peso jackpot from two lottery tickets just days before she was due to be evicted from her home.
The Mirror reports that the wronged wife received a 'flirtatious' phone call from her ex-partner to congratulate her on the win but that she gave him a quick brush-off. Local media outlet Zona Cero reported that she was a seamstress who was only days away from being evicted from her home as she could no longer afford the mortgage, while her daughter was unable to register in the latest term at her university due to a lack of money.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, bought the ticket as a last resort on January 17, which was a year to the day that her husband left her for her best friend. She was reportedly "trembling" when she found out she had won the biggest ever jackpot in the South American country where the average monthly salary is around £800. The jackpot sum equates to around £268,000.
She is also believed to have taken home the largest amount ever won in the Supergiros lottery that paid out her big prize.
