Woman 'scared and shaken' after abduction attempt in Adelaide CBD

Police are hunting two men who tried to pull a woman into their car in broad daylight on a city street.

The victim was able to resist the attempted abduction, which took place on South Terrace, about 50 metres west of East Terrace, at 3:00pm yesterday.

She reported the white utility pulled up next to her, the passenger door opened and she was grabbed on the arm before hearing the words, "get in".

Police said as the passenger grabbed her, the driver of the ute was laughing.

The woman pulled away quickly, breaking the grip, before running off in the opposite direction.

"She was not injured, but scared and shaken from the ordeal," a statement from police said.

The car was last seen travelling towards East Terrace.

Eastern Adelaide Police are investigating a motive for the attack.

The male passenger is described as being Caucasian, about 40 to 50 years old, of medium build and with a pale complexion.

He was balding, with white stubble on the lower part of his chin and was wearing a white singlet with black markings on the front and shorts.

The driver of the ute is described as being a male of Caucasian appearance, about 40 to 50 years old, but slightly older than the passenger, of medium build and a pale complexion.

He was also balding and also had stubble on his face which was described as being "fuller" than the passenger.

He was wearing a dark blue or purple singlet with sunglasses hanging from the front.

The white utility has been described as an older style with an empty, unpainted aluminium tray on the back.

No make or registration details are currently known.
