Woman saves thousands by faking marble kitchen counter with creative paint trick

Renovating a kitchen can be an expensive job, without the added cost of appliances and decor.

But a woman has revealed how she revamped her kitchen countertop on a budget - and it's quite genius really.

Jennifer regularly shares interior design inspiration and DIY tips and tricks on TikTok, where she's known as @jenniferlauraliving.

But everyone's raving about how she saved £1000’s on buying a marble kitchen counter by painting the design herself.

In a video that has been viewed more than seven million times, Jennifer showed how she transformed her old-fashioned granite worktop into one worthy of featuring on a Pinterest board.

The first step was to paint the counter white with a roller.

Then, using a DIY marble kit she picked up from Amazon, she used a tiny paintbrush to mimic the lines in a piece of marble.

She also smudged the lines using a larger paintbrush to make it look like the real deal.

To complete the project, she coated the counter with gloss to protect it from wear and tear.

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 700,000 likes and 4,800 comments from impressed viewers who were keen to give it a go themselves.

One person wrote: "I've done the exact same thing to mine. It looks so good when it's done. Great job!"

Another commented: "The AMOUNT OF TRUST you have in your skills to pull this off lmao I could neverrrr but it turned out beautiful btw."

"This was sooooo creative," said a third.

But there were a couple of people who were devastated to see her paint over the granite.

One person said: "But that granite was so beautiful," to which another replied: "Are people daft? That granite was so outdated why are they all so upset?"

What do you think of the woman's savvy idea? Let us know in the comments.
