Woman saves £10k by renovating bathroom herself - and the transformation is incredible

Renovating your home is no easy task and if you don’t want to do the work yourself, it can cost a fortune to transform every room into your dream space.

But one woman on Instagram is proving that you don’t need a professional to re-decorate, as she and her partner have been redoing their whole house on their own.

Chloe, who posts under @thegreybuild and her partner Aaron bought a miners cottage built in 1880 and one of their favourite rooms to renovate has been their bathroom – which the couple estimate they’ve saved around £10,000 on by doing the work themselves.

The bathroom required the pair to knock down walls and re-position windows, but the finished look was worth the effort, The Sun reports.

Chloe, 24, said: “After adding up the average costs of labour we believe we saved around £10,000.

“Our bathroom was quite an intricate design which included knocking walls down, re-positioning a window, building an additional shower nook, bespoke carpentry work and lots of electrical work.

"It was a back to brick renovation so would have been very expensive in labour costs.”

On her Instagram page, Chloe often shares tips and tricks to achieve luxury finishes without splashing out – including one video in which she said she created a cloud texture on her bathroom vanity using only paint.

And in another video that takes her 33,000 followers inside her finished bathroom, Chloe said she “feels at home” in the bespoke room.

She wrote: “A bathroom should be a space where you feel at home. Somewhere to relax and unwind, and that was always at the forefront of my mind when designing this space. I wanted a painted wall so that if I ever wanted to switch things up it was easy to make small colour changes.

“What’s your favourite room in your house? Because mine’s 100 per cent this bathroom!”

While in another post uploaded just as renovations on the bathroom began, Chloe encouraged her followers to “give it a go” without worrying about making mistakes.

She said: “I nearly didn’t post this, but then I remembered that nobody cares about how I look and that I’m a bloody bada** for plastering my house on my own with no training, just YouTube!

“This is your sign to just give it a go. Stop being apprehensive about your potential mistakes and imperfections, and you will surprise yourself, I promise.”

And people can’t believe how stunning Chloe’s home transformation is.

One person commented: “Looks amazing, you’ve done a fantastic job.”

While another said: “It’s amazing! It looks like something from a 5-star hotel.”

And a third wrote: “Such a gorgeous space! Well done to you both, you must be so happy.”
