Woman saved from River Aire in dramatic overnight rescue in Leeds

A woman has been rescued by firefighters from the River Aire.

Crews were called in the early hours of this morning to reports of the female in the river in Leeds city centre.

The casualty was located under Crown Point Bridge and was successfully rescued by West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service .

She was then handed over into the care of paramedics.

Water rescue crews from Leeds and Rothwell attended along with pumps from Leeds and Hunslet.

A specalist Technical Rescue Officer was also mobilised but was returned prior to arrival.
