Armed police descended upon a street after a woman was savaged by her own dogs.
An address on Assam Close, St Helens, was the centre of a large emergency response scene, including police, ambulance and Merseyside Fire and Rescue.
Merseyside Police said a woman was seriously injured after her four dogs attacked her inside her home.

The area, just off Reginald Road, was flooded with police shortly after 10am this morning.
People living nearby said emergency crews were at the scene for over an hour before the presence started to dwindle.
At the scene, police could be seen loading a small dog into the back of an unmarked black van before driving away.
A resident close to the property told the ECHO : "You should have seen it before, the whole street was filled with police, ambulance and everything, it was mad.”
Another person living on the same estate as Assam Close said that there has been previously been trouble on the estate and that residents 'have to suffer' through it.
One resident of the street said: "It's normally a nice estate so it's obviously really surprising when something like this goes on."
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are in attendance in Sutton today, Monday 6 December.
"At around 10.15am, police were called to the Reginald Road area to a report of a woman being attacked by her four dogs, initially described as bulldogs.
"The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
"The dogs have been seized by Merseyside Police.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
