Woman's warning after she's caught doing something embarrassing on Zoom call

The Saturday night Zoom chat or quiz has become a staple of most people's lockdown lifestyle.

We settle down on the sofa, grab a couple of drinks and grab the laptop or tablet for an evening of talking over our friends and family and disputing the answers to shoddy quiz questions.

It's all quite relaxing really and a welcome break from social distancing, masks and daily press briefings.

You don't want to get too relaxed though - as Scarlet Chappell from Sneinton can testify.

The 23-year-old was relaxing with her friends on a call after a few drinks when she passed wind quite loudly.

And any hope she had of getting away with it was lost when her name was highlighted to show her microphone had been activated - confirming her friends' suspicions.

A short while afterwards she tweeted: "Just farted on a zoom call and it lit my name up. I've been betrayed."

She didn't think any more about it until she checked her phone the following morning to see the tweet was being shared far and wide.

She tweeted again, saying: "So mortified I woke up to this tweet after a heavy night of drinking and now this many people have seen it."

Now, three days later, it's been retweeted 22,000 times.

Scarlet, originally from London, said: "This is going to sound really unfunny now I explain it.

"I was actually on a call with my mates but my call was delayed so I thought I picked a really loud moment [to cover it up] but for them it was really quiet and it highlighted me so they all knew it was me.

"I'd actually had a lot to drink and don't really remember tweeting about it.

"Wasn't until the next day when it was on about 200 likes I realised.

"I laughed and thought I'd leave it up never expecting it this many people to see it."

In these times of social distancing, it's probably something we can all relate to.
