A Stockport woman is sounding a warning to drivers after she believed she was ‘targeted’ in a train station theft.
Nicola, 26, says she left her handbag in the boot of her Fiat 500 under cover and out of sight in Gatley train station car park, off Gatley Road.
The lab technician from Portwood was on her way to meet a friend for a meal in Manchester when she moved her bag from the front passenger seat to the boot at around 4:45pm.
However, when she returned at 9:30pm the same evening, Nicola says she discovered her back window had been smashed, seat pushed forward — and her handbag was gone.
Fortunately, nothing valuable was stolen in the alleged theft — but it has led Nicola to sound a warning to others.
“Be extra vigilant,” she told the Manchester Evening News. “You always think the boot is the best pace, but look around.
“There were some people waiting in the car and they could have been watching me."

Nicola believes the fact that the alleged thieves smashed one side is evidence she was targeted.
She continued: “[My bag] was not visible. They broke in the same side [it was].
“They know the area. You have to walk through the car park to get to the station.”
Nicola added that she hoped more could be done to tackle the problem.
“It is a very quick job,” she said. “I feel they are going to keep on doing it.”
Greater Manchester Police was approached for comment.
