A PREGNANT woman's unborn baby has died after their vehicle collided with a truck in the Snowy Valleys at the weekend.
About 3pm on Saturday, a Subaru Liberty travelling along Gocup Road failed to give way to a semi-trailer while turning onto the Snowy Mountains Highway, causing the two vehicles to collide.
The 29-year-old woman driving the vehicle, alongside her 10-year-old daughter and 4-year-old daughter, were freed by emergency services.
The mother, who was 30 weeks' pregnant, was airlifted to Canberra Hospital and the children transported to Westmead Children's Hospital, all in a critical condition.
The mother, from Nicholls, ACT, lost her baby.
The 10-year-old daughter remains in a critical condition in Westmead Children's Hospital, with police saying her chances of survival are slim.
The 4-year-old remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The 58-year-old male truck driver was not injured in the collision and was take to Tumut Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police say the truck driver is assisting with inquiries, and a crime scene was established a processed by the Crash Investigation Unit.
