Woman's shock as bin man puts whole wheelie bin into his lorry

A woman has been left confused and angered after her entire dustbin was picked up by a binman and dumped in the back of his lorry. The woman, who lives in Ripley on the Derbyshire border, had ventured out of the house one day to take out some rubbish when she realised the bin was missing.

Nowhere to be seen, she assumed it might've been taken by accident by a neighbour or on purpose by some unruly children. But it was only after she checked her neighbour's CCTV that she realised what had happened, reports Derbyshire Live.

She said: "We just went out and it had disappeared. We've got two green bins. They emptied it, put it back, then got back to get it and chucked it in the back of the lorry. He'd already emptied it first. It's actually quite funny. But after I laughed I was fuming at the time. It's a problem. Everyone needs a bin."

The incident happened at around 9.20am on Friday, April 7. The video, shared by the woman, shows the worker, in a hi-vis orange jacket and trousers, attempting to throw the bin into the back of the lorry where waste is usually deposited. The man appears to be working alone.

The bin falls back out and he needs a second bite at the cherry to be successful. The bin then disappears into the black hole of the vehicle.

Since, the woman has emailed the council but has not received a response, nor her bin back. The woman has confirmed with neighbours that their bins were not taken, leaving her still clueless as to what the thinking was behind the confiscation.

The area of Ripley in which the woman lives falls under the remit of Amber Valley District Council and Derbyshire County Council. Amber Valley is responsible for the bins but it outsources its collection work to an external company called Norse Group. Norse Group was contacted for comment.
