When washing socks there are two big hurdles to cross - managing not to lose one of the pair, and getting them as white as they were when you first bought them.
While losing socks is a conundrum we might never find the answer to, one woman has come up with a brilliant (and ridiculously cheap) hack for getting socks as white as possible using a normal wash. HURRAH.
Writing on a popular Facebook cleaning group, Nicola Irvine said: "Used these Asda dishwasher tablets in my normal wash on my boyfriends socks! Can’t believe the difference."

Speaking to Manchester Evening News , she revealed the process she had followed to get her fella's socks so white.
Nicola said: "I added [a dishwasher tablet] to the drum in my normal white wash. Put it on 30 degrees and used one Smol washing pod & softener and then put the wash on for 45 minutes."
The post quickly racked up likes and comments, with several shoppers agreeing with Nicola's savvy dishwasher tablet method.
"I used these on my daughters trainers they're smashing," said one.
Somebody else said: "That’s the ones I use as well."
"Wow great results," added a third impressed social media user.
Nicola also confirmed that the same technique works on underpants - a tip which will be music to the ears of many.

A pack of Asda's Smart Price dishwasher tablets currently costs £1.50, and contains 30 tablets. That works out at 5p a tablet, meaning Nicola's white sock hack will cost you pennies.
