Woman's poached egg hack makes 'perfect' runny yolk with no pot in one minute

Eggs are a staple for any breakfast, and there's no shortage of ways to cook them up.

One of the most popular methods is poached - but it's also one of the trickiest. But one savvy cooking fan has shared their nifty way to make them with no pot or vinegar required.

It should only take minutes, but poaching can all go wrong if the egg's cracked incorrectly and can't form that pillow shape. A runny yolk can also be tough to achieve - as overcooking by even one minute can make for a solid centre.

Not only that, waiting for the water to boil can be a pain when you're starving in the morning. However, one woman claims she can guarantee a perfect poached in one minute by cooking them in the microwave, the Mirror reports.

Taking to social media, user @danarebeccadesigns shared the cooking hack with her 18,000 TikTok followers. In a clip that's racked up a whopping 1.6million views, the method was demonstrated by her mum, who's "obsessed" with the hack since learning it online.

In the video, the woman's mum explained: "I recently learned how to poach an egg and I thank whoever it was on TikTok. You break an egg into a small bowl, add a little bit of water (just to cover the yolk), and put it in the microwave. Mine goes in for 44 seconds!"

For cooking time, she says "It can go in for between 36-45 seconds". Retrieving the bowl from the microwave, the woman gushed: "Out comes the perfect poached egg!"

The TikToker carefully spooned out the poached egg from the water and placed it carefully onto her plate for eating. Upon slicing into the egg yolk with a knife, the consistency was perfectly runny and gave the identical effect to poaching the eggs in a saucepan with hot water.

Since sharing the game-changing hack, the woman's post has raked in over 300 comments to date - where people rushed to the comment section to gush over the easy method.

One person said: "OMG!!! It worked!!!! Thank you!!!" Meanwhile, a second TikTok user penned: "Perfect. No more dirty pan for one egg."

Having sworn by the method for decades, someone else wrote: "Jesus, I have been doing this for 30 years."
