Woman's mascara trick for false lash effect hailed as a 'game-changer'

We're all on the pursuit of long and luscious lashes, whether that's trying to enhance our real ones or going for the false option.

Now one woman has claimed we've been applying mascara wrong this whole time - and revealed her genius method on Tik Tok.

The user, named Taylor Tripler, has racked up thousands of views after showing off the mascara wand technique she learned at school.

She claims she has had dozens of compliments since she started using this method over the years - with many in disbelief that she wasn't wearing false eyelashes, The Mirror reports.

In the clip, she said: "Ok you guys are all doing your mascara the wrong way.

"I learned this I think when I was in high school and I've been doing it ever since and everyone always asks me if I have fake eyelashes on."

Taylor, who posts under @_slaybytay_, advises people not to pump the wand in and out of the tube, but instead to scoop the product out.

She then takes the wand and holds it upright, wiping it left and right along the bottom of her top eyelashes to ensure no part is missed and all of the lashes are covered in mascara.

Once going back and forward a few times like this, she then turns the brush on its side and applies up along the length of the lash as usual.

The final step involves waiting for the mascara to dry completely, then she takes a cotton bud and runs it along her eyelid, to clean up any mess that may have been made.

More than 642,000 people watched the video, with over 76,000 liking it and thousands also commenting on the technique.

A few admitted the video made them "uncomfy", while others thought it would give "clumpy" mascara.

One wrote: "I feel like I just watched someone open a KitKat and just take a bite right out of it."

"Mine would clump up so bad," replied a third.

However, others confirmed that the method works wonders.

One responded: "I have a degree in cosmetology and I'm also licensed. You are correct, that is how you supposed to apply mascara. A lot of people don't do it that way."

A different user added: "Did this and did not poke out my eye and my lashes don't look clumpy.

A third wrote: "My lashes do however look FANTASTIC. GAME-CHANGER."
