Woman's Malaga holiday off to bad start as £5 food order arrives at airport table

A woman said her holiday got off to a bad start after she was left disappointed while ordering food at Liverpool Airport.

Julie Clarke, from Old Swan, flew to Malaga on Thursday July 22.

She was going to visit her sister who she hadn't seen for two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.

While waiting to board the plane, she ordered some food from the Kissing Gate café. But she said that what arrived at her table was not what she had expected.

Julie told the ECHO: "I ordered cheesy chips and this is what I got.

"About 10 chips and some squirty cheese about the size of a postage stamp.

"And I paid a fiver for the privilege."

Julie said she ordered her food via an app, which showed a photo of what the dish should have looked like.

She says there was a big difference between what she was offered and what she received.

It's not the first time in recent weeks a diner has been disappointed by an order of cheesy chips.

On Sunday (August 1) a woman visited the Sir Henry Segrave pub on Lord Street in Southport.

She ordered a light bite after becoming peckish while drinking with friends.

But when her cheesy chips arrived, she said she "struggled" to see any cheese.

A spokesman for J D Wetherspoon told the ECHO : "We are sorry if the lady is disappointed with the food she received.

"She is welcome to get in touch with Wetherspoon head office and her complaint will be investigated."

Liverpool Airport was approached for comment.
