Woman's kids buy her engagement ring to replace one she sold to pay bills

A heartwarming video shows the moment a mum was given an engagement ring by her kids - years after she had to sell hers to pay bills.

The clip was posted on Twitter by BBC producer Kim Rowell.

She wrote alongside the emotional footage of her mum Denise: "My mum had to sell her engagement ring to pay our bills when I was a kid - today we gave her a replacement."

The video shows Denise opening a box which gets smaller and smaller.

Daughter Kim is heard saying: "It's like a Russian doll."

A man's voice is heard saying: "It gets smaller and smaller."

As soon as she clocks what the gift is, Denise says: "It's beautiful - and pretty much exactly the same."

And she is tearfully seen telling her family: "Thank you so much."

It sparked dozens of comments from people sharing their joy at seeing the clip.

One wrote: "This is beautiful. But most of all, your Mum, like so many Mums (including mine) is a hero.

"Many Mums up and down the country right now are giving up all they have or treasure for their children. Lets make sure Mums don't have to do this in future. Give Mums dignity."
