Woman's horror at 'bloody' city centre attack that left her unconscious and with a hole in her head

A Hucknall woman has spoken out after a horrific attack in Nottingham city centre left her with a hole in her head, lying unconscious on the floor.

Aly Levy has said she is going to avoid Nottingham "like the plague" out of fear for her safety after she was attacked down a dark alleyway just off Upper Parliament Street on Saturday, October 5.

The 29-year-old had been to Goose Fair with her boyfriend Kurt and her friends before heading into the city centre for some drinks at Alto and other bars.

Her boyfriend went home, and she decided to stay out a bit longer with her friends.

Aly, an account worker, does not remember the incident, just the horrifying moment she came round to find blood "pouring" from her head. She says the attack must have happened between 1.30 and 3.30am.

Shocking pictures she took from hospital show the extent of her injuries.

"I have never felt unsafe in my own city. I know bad things do happen here, but I've always kept my head down and I've been coming out for years," she told Nottinghamshire Live.

"The only thing I remembered was waking up on the floor in a pool of my own blood. When I started to come round, I realised both my friends were also on the floor nearby and covered in blood.

"We’d been brutally attacked in the alleyway behind Revolucion de Cuba."

Aly said she has not been able to give a full account or description of her attackers as she can't remember the incident.

She added: "I don't remember any of the incident so I've not been able to give a proper account to police. I don't think there's much they can do which is really disappointing.

"There has got to be loads of CCTV around.

"I've been left in so much pain all over my body, battered and brusied. My shoulder, back, collarbone and head are all in pain. I am going to live with a scar on my forehead for the rest of my life because of this.

"I am quite a tough cookie but this was just horrendous, violent and bloody. I remember being hysterical and I kept passing out.

"I am having to go back to A&E because of the pain I am in.

"I will be avoiding Nottingham like the plague for a while. We weren't drunk, we just had a couple of drinks with friends. We weren't messing around looking for trouble."

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said they are appealing for witnesses to reports of an assault on Norfolk Place in the city centre.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses after reports of an assault on Norfolk Place, Nottingham just before 3.50am on Saturday October 5 2019.

A spokesperson said three women were assaulted by a group of men and received injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Sergeant Richard Hunter, who attended the incident, said: “This was a serious incident and we are doing everything we can to find those responsible. Officers are reviewing CCTV and encourage anyone who has information to come forward.”
