A woman whose cat died after being savagely mauled by dogs in Bury has spoken of her heartbreak.
Lynn Hurley had not long let her cat Tippi outside when the incident happened at around 3pm on Monday (April 11). The black cat was attacked by three large dogs off their leads near South Royd Street in Tottington.
The 56-year-old former police officer was alerted to the commotion by a neighbour. Lynn rushed to the vets but sadly Tippi, who was adopted around two years ago, died in her arms within seconds of arriving. Her death has left Lynn “devastated”.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she said: “I got home from work at around 2.30pm and went upstairs to have a shower and let her out the front because she only goes out when the weather is nice.
“My house is on a country lane walk where everyone comes to walk their dogs. All the dogs are off-lead and run to a neighbour's house to get treats.

“She’s not frightened of dogs so doesn’t run away. A man aged around 25 knocked on my door with two of my neighbours holding my cat.
“I thought they had run her over but they said she had been attacked by a dog. I threw some clothes on and one neighbour drove me to the vets but she died within seconds of me getting there.”
A witness said the dogs ran to a nearby house to get treats before spotting Tippi and attacking her. A jogger shouted at the dog owner to help but he “wasn’t interested”, according to Lynn.
The jogger attempted to kick the dogs away from Tippi but it was already too late. The incident has since been reported to police.
“There are literally no cameras around here at all because it’s just country lanes,” Lynn continued. “No one has a doorbell camera and there’s no CCTV.
“Tippi was a tiny little thing; she was so sweet. She didn’t stand a chance. It’s horrific; absolutely horrific. There’s nothing you can do. The bloke is long gone.
“She died in my arms in the vets. I’m just thankful someone tried to save her and knocked on the door. I’m devastated, obviously.”
