Woman shares 'genius' car hack to stop your windscreen from freezing overnight

With temperatures plunging close to zero degrees, Brits are facing the frustrating, time-consuming task that is defrosting our cars each morning.

But now, you can sleep in a little longer as a woman has shared a simple hack she uses to ensure her car is frost-free when she leaves the house - meaning there's no need to wait an age for it to defrost.

The woman, under the username @kirstennp_ on TikTok, revealed that she lays a large bath towel across the entire length of her windscreen in the evening and leaves it there overnight.

As temperatures drop in the early hours, the towel will absorb water and freeze rather than the windscreen.

She said: "When you put a towel on your windscreen to stop it freezing overnight.

"It’s frozen itself."

So now you can say goodbye to scraping ice in your gloves, boiling the kettle for warm water or having to hold onto that ice-cold bottle of anti-freeze.

Since being shared, the video has racked up more than 252,000 likes and almost 2,000 comments from people praising the incredible hack.

One person said: "I didn't think this worked. Would have saved me 20 minutes defrosting mine this morning."

Another added: "This is genius."

A third wrote: "Buuuuuuuut... it worked, job well done I'd say!"

To make sure the towel stays in place and doesn't blow away, a few people suggested shutting each end of the towel in the car doors.

And one viewer said she was lucky that it didn't freeze to the windscreen, after having it happen to them before.
