Woman's game-changing roast potato trick guarantees 'perfectly crispy' spuds every time

Sometimes, it can seem like an impossible task to get the perfect roast potatoes - you want crispy skin and fluffy middles for them to really be the star of the show, but it's harder than it looks to crack the Sunday dinner code.

If you've been left disappointed with your roasties one too many times, don't panic - it's just time to switch up the ingredients you're using.

Whilst one chef says that incorporating the skin of the potatoes into the recipe gives you the fluffiest potatoes, many swear by cupboard staple Marmite, saying it's the dark, gooey consistency that guarantees the perfect, crispy, glazed exterior

The controversial condiment is one that you either love or hate, but this recipe may just win the haters over thanks to the way it elevates your potatoes.

Food blogger Beth previously shared a game-changing step-by-step recipe to her Instagram account @sw_bethhazel, and according to the home cook, you only need five ingredients to make gloriously crispy spuds every time.

Beth, from Leicestershire, wrote: "I'll be cooking some of these later for my tea and as I always get asked how I make them I thought I'd post the recipe again for those that want to try these beauties."

All you need to make these delicious-looking potatoes is some salt and pepper, oil, or Frylight as well as the star of the show, Marmite.

She explained: "To make, peel and par boil some potatoes (seven-ish minutes) then drain and drizzle Marmite all over them."

Beth revealed that she sometimes heats a spoon before digging into the Marmite pot to make it easier to get it out, as sometimes it can solidify too much.

"(I usually use two tablespoons depending on how many potatoes, but use as much or as little as you want)", she continued. "Then spray a glass roaster/baking tray with Frylight and tip the potatoes into it!

"Shake the roaster/tray so that the Marmite spreads on all of the potatoes and then spray them with Frylight.

"Cook in the oven until nice and crispy.

"To make them extra crispy and Marmite'y... every 20 minutes cover with more Marmite and spray with Frylight again.

"I never have a roast without these now."

This comes after a top chef revealed they use an OXO stock cube to take their roast potatoes to the next level.

Great British Menu winner and owner of Benedicts Restaurant in Norwich, Richard Bainbridge, has revealed to The Mirror his hack to make roast potatoes taste "epic" - and he claims the tip also works well to spruce up your turkey.

To give this a go, simply crush an OXO chicken stock cube and sprinkle it over potatoes or meat before roasting - it couldn't be simpler.
