A woman has admitted that her fiance often gets mistaken for her dad because of the couple’s 33-year age gap.
Lucy Gloster, 32, has been with 65-year-old John Wright for three years, and in that time the pair have become so accustomed to other people’s confusion they now laugh it off.
Ms Gloster's dad is actually nine years younger than Mr Wright.
The couple, from Skegness, met at work in 2013, when Ms Gloster worked as care assistant for the elderly under Mr Wright’s supervision. They got together after Ms Gloster split up from her husband.
The mother-of-one told the Daily Mail that the pair were at a client's funeral when Wright invited her out for a drink.
“We'd grown really close over the past few months, seeing each other at staff parties and work nights out,” she said. “But I'd never really thought of him in that way before. But when he asked me to have a drink, I decided to say yes.”
Mr Wright confessed his feelings to Ms Gloster that night - and they moved in together two months later.
She said her parents have met Mr Wright, and they all get on well.
Mr Wright also gets on well with Ms Gloster's nine-year-old son from a previous relationship, who lives with the couple.
The also decided to try for a baby, but Ms Gloster miscarried twice.
The pair nonetheless plan to marry next June.
"We're so excited to start the next stage of our relationship," Ms Gloster said, adding: "He's the kindest man I've ever met and he supports me through everything. Our relationship keeps going from strength to strength.
"It just goes to show that age really is just a number."
