Woman's death no longer treated as suspicious after murder probe

The death of a woman at her home is no longer being treated as suspicious following a murder probe., Greater Manchester Police has confirmed

Detectives launched an investigation following the death of Eileen Brabbin at her home in Glemsford Close, Wigan, in the early hours of August 2.

Police say there are no longer believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the 64-year-old's death, and a file has been passed to the coroner.

A man in his 60s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has since been released with no further action.

Mrs Brabbin's body was discovered after officers were called to her home in the Hawkley Hall area of Wigan at 4.10am.

Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence on the street, including forensic investigators.

Neighbours spoke of their shock in the wake of her death.

Paying tribute, one local resident said: "She was always quiet but seemed really nice. We send our wishes and condolences to the family. It's just so sad."

Floral tributes were left outside the home marking Mrs Brabbin's loss.

An inquest into her death opened at Bolton Coroner's Court last month.

A post-mortem examination gave Mrs Brabbin's cause of death as 'hanging'.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "A man in his 60s arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released with no further action.

"We do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a file has been passed to the coroner."
