Police enquiries are underway tonight after a woman was found dead in a Kilmarnock house.
Emergency service units responded to an incident at a property on Campsie Road where the female was discovered.
Circumstances relating to the death are still unclear as officers attempt to find out what happened and speak to neighbours.
One eyewitness told the Kilmarnock Standard: "There was a heavy police presence from about 4pm onwards.
"They were there for hours speaking to neighbours and looking to gather information."
A police spokeswoman said: "Around 4pm on Tuesday, September 29, police received a report a woman had died in a house in Campsie Road, Kilmarnock.
"Emergency services attended and enquiries are ongoing."
