Woman's controversial method of eating a burrito branded 'criminal' in food debate

A woman has sparked a fierce debate online over the controversial way she eats a burrito.

A photo of the half-eaten dish was shared on Reddit, where it amassed more than 20,000 upvotes, many from people who branded her method a "crime".

"My wife eats the filling out of her burritos with a fork, then eats the empty tortilla shell," her partner wrote in the post.

A burrito, for those who don't know, is a Mexican staple, which according to Old El Paso is a "soft, warm tortilla wrapped to contain a number of juicy fillings including rice, beans and chicken, beef or pork."

"The name 'burrito' translates to 'little donkey' because the folded end of the tortilla looks like a donkey's ear!

"Traditionally, Mexican burritos would include meat and refried beans, whilst in the U.S. they introduced a combination of extra ingredients including rice, salsa, beans, lettuce and meat."

Typically, a burrito is eaten with your hands as it's seen as a convenient snack, but this woman uses a fork.

But she doesn't cut the burrito up into small pieces, she uses the tortilla barrier as some sort of bowl and tucks in using the fork.

The method has caused quite the divide online, with many people arguing it's "criminal."

One person said: "Divorce is imminent."

Another wrote: "Your 'wife' is a war criminal."

Someone else admitted: "This is honest to god one of the weirdest things I've seen another human do."

But others were on her side as one person said: "But it is really the best way to eat a burrito."

Another agreed: "It looks like a Chipotle Burrito so I'll let her logic slide... She's saving herself a mess for sure, and not having to pay extra for a side tortilla with a bowl."

While a third admitted: "I do this. Idk why. It's just... less messy. And the tortilla is great afterwards. It's tortilla with the essence of burrito."
