Woman's Christmas tree dubbed the "world's worst" as she jokes it "sums up 2020"

There have been some dark days throughout history, but we certainly won't be remembering 2020 with any fondness or wish to relive the year.

If someone had told us this time last year what 2020 would bring, we'd have told them to stop watching Black Mirror.

In fact, this year has been far from pine and no amount of perfectly decorated trees will help us forget.

Now one woman's Christmas tree has been dubbed the "world's worst" - and it's easy to see why.

On TikTok, a woman called Melody shared a video capturing the moment her cousin cut open the tree in order to decorate it.

As he cuts the strings, the tree starts to unfold and look a lot fuller.

But disaster strikes as he snips at the bottom half as it suddenly falls apart, leaving it looking a lot barer than expected.

The confused man can be heard accusing the woman filming the video of 'breaking' the festive icon.

It's fair to say it wasn't what we expected.

In fact, it was more than that - it was extremely disappointing and it's definitely what we've come to expect from 2020.

The hilarious video has been viewed more than 11 million times since it was uploaded to TikTok.

Miss Melody joked in the video caption: "If this doesn't perfectly sum up 2020, I don't know exactly what does."

People were left in stitches by the clip, which has racked up more than 600,000 likes.

One viewer commented: "My god the way he said you broke it that got me."

A second referenced the famous Rockefeller Tree, which was dubbed "terrible" by fed-up New Yorkers this year.

They joked: "2020 Rockefeller Tree's little brother for sure. Keep it in the family."

A third commented: "That tree looks the same as the rest of us after 2020."

A fourth added: "World's worst tree...I'm calling it."

But others preferred to look on the optimistic side of life.

One viewer replied: "Just more room to stack presents."

That's one way to look at it, personally, we'd be demanding a refund.

Meanwhile, some Poundland customers have been complaining about a new festive addition to the tills.

The national chain has added a jovial twist to its self-serve tills this year - with the automated voice replaced by Father Christmas.

One shopper who had their card declined was mortified after the till announced it was rejected before singing.
