Woman's body pulled from the Thames in early hours of Bank Holiday Monday

A woman's body was recovered from the River Thames in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday, police say.

The discovery was made in the stretch of the water at Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Thames Valley Police said officers are at Boulters Lock after a report of a woman's body in the river at 7.15am.

The force said the death is being treated as unexplained and formal identification has yet to take place.

Officers are working to establish the circumstances and to identify the woman's next of kin.

Boulters Lock and Cookham Lock were both closed on Monday afternoon, and police were asking members of the public avoid the area.
