Woman's body pulled from lake as police launch probe into mysterious death

Police are investigating a mysterious death after the body of a woman was pulled from a lake in London today.

The deceased woman, believed to be around 50 years old, was spotted in the water next to a road in Stanmore at 6.30am and officers were called to the scene.

The circumstances around her death and how she ended up in the lake remain unclear.

Emergency services including Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade assisted in recovering the body.

There is a large police presence at the scene including a forensics tent, Harrow Online reported.

A Met Police spokesperson said: ""Police were called to Howard Road, Stanmore at 6.29 on Sunday following reports that a body had been seen in a lake.

"Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics. The body of a deceased woman, believed to be approximately 50 years of age, was recovered from the water with assistance from the London Fire Brigade.

“Enquiries are under way to determine how the woman came to enter the water.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, providing the reference 2099/27JUN.”
