Woman's body pulled from docks as officers work to identify her

A woman's body was pulled from the water at a Merseyside docks and officers are now working to try to identify her.

The discovery was made on Monday and a large emergency services response descended on the area just before 2pm.

A number of emergency services vehicles were pictures at Langton Dock in Bootle, with others watching on as the body was recovered from the water.

Police today said the death was not being treated as suspicious and efforts are now underway to identify the woman and inform her family.

Investigations are also ongoing to establish how she died.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We were contacted at 1.50pm on Monday 19th April following reports of the body of a woman had been found at Langton Docks in Bootle.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and work is ongoing to formally identify the woman, inform her next of kin and ascertain the circumstances of the death."
