Woman's body found in Quebec residence after husband turns himself in to police

SALABERRY-DE-VALLEYFIELD, Que. — A Quebec woman is dead and her husband is in custody following an alleged domestic violence incident southwest of Montreal.

The 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he presented himself at a Montreal police station, where authorities allege he admitted to having assaulted his wife.

The local authorities contacted provincial police, who discovered the body of a 48-year-old woman in a residence in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que.

Police say it's unclear how long the woman had been dead, and their investigation is on-going.

The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
