Woman's body found in Hawick following missing persons appeal

POLICE have confirmed that a woman’s body has been found in Hawick following a missing persons search.

Police Scotland previously sought the public’s assistance in trying to locate a 55-year-old woman, Jacqueline Trimby, who had been missing since Tuesday.

A search was started with specialist search advisors and officers from the dog branch deployed – with a body then found on Wednesday afternoon.

Although the woman has yet to be formally identified, the family of Jacqueline Trimby has been informed.

Police say there are “no suspicious circumstances”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Further to our previous appeal regarding a woman missing from Hawick, please note around 1400 hrs on Wednesday, 2 August, 2023, the body of a woman was found near Burnfoot, Hawick.

"Although the woman has yet to be formally identified, the family of Jacqueline Trimby, missing from Hawick since yesterday, has been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
