Woman's body found in garage in Sydney, as children slept inside

Forensic officers outside the Minto home on Sunday morning

A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a garage in Sydney's south-west.

Emergency services were called to the house in the Sydney suburb of Minto about 4:00am on Easter Sunday to find a 30 to 35-year-old woman dead inside the garage.

A 49-year-old man, who police said was the woman's husband, was arrested at the scene and taken to Campbelltown Police Station for questioning.

He was later taken to Fairfield Hospital to treat an injury to his hand, and after being released, was charged with murder.

Two children, aged six and 10, were asleep inside the house. They were unharmed.

Police woke the two children and took them to the local station.

The officers have attempted to locate family members.

The deceased woman has not yet been identified.

The house remained a crime scene throughout Sunday, with State Crime Command's Homicide Squad and forensic crews examining the house.
