Woman’s body found in car on Scots street sparking 'unexplained death' probe

A Fife street has been locked down by police after the body of a woman was discovered inside a car.

The grim discovery was made at around 9am on Monday, August 9, after officers were called to Cable Road in Glenrothes.

A cordon was put in place as officers carried out enquiries with the woman’s death currently being treated as “unexplained”.

The road, leading towards a caravan park, remains closed off by police by specialist forensic officers have been drafted in.

Police Scotland have confirmed their enquiries are at an early stage.

A statement from the force said: “Officers in Glenrothes were called to Cable Road around 9am on Monday, 9 August, to reports of the sudden death of a woman found within a vehicle.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are at an early stage.”
