Woman's body found in Adelaide unit fire

Firefighters at the unit fire in Everard Park.

The body of a woman has been found on the balcony of a burning unit at Everard Park, in Adelaide's inner south-west.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) said it received a number of calls about the blaze at the two-storey housing trust complex on Halmon Avenue about 5:20pm ACDT.

Firefighters took 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze at the rear of the complex, preventing it spreading to neighbouring units.

"One of the units was well alight when patrols and fire crews arrived," police said in a statement.

"Sadly, a 29-year-old woman from the unit was found deceased on the balcony of the premises."

Senior Constable Kylee Simpson said fire cause investigators have attended the scene.

"Police are preparing a report for the coroner … there are no suspicious circumstances," she said.
