Woman's adored spaniel Eddie mauled to death by two other dogs

A woman whose beloved dog was mauled to death just yards from her front door says it was the most traumatic thing she's ever gone through.

Joanne Parkin, 33, fought to save Eddie, her nine-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, but he was killed by two stray dogs in Lees, Oldham.

The dogs which attacked, described by Joanne as 'Pitbull style', were not with an owner.

"It's going to take a very long time to try and get those images out of my head.

"I have always had dogs and they are my absolute everything."

Joanne, who runs a beauty therapy business, had taken out Eddie for a walk on Friday morning, before returning home at about 9.30pm to her home in Lees, Oldham.

"We were only a few steps from the front door when two very strong Pitbull style dogs made a beeline for Eddie," she said.

"I now have the emotional and psychological trauma of replaying it over and over in my head," Joanne said (Joanne Parkin)

"Each dog grabbed hold of Eddie. I tried to pick him up but didn't have enough time.

"I thought I was going to get him back in two pieces.

"I was just screaming at the top of my voice, hoping someone would come out to help, but no one did.

"The dogs went and I scooped him up, but I knew he was dead instantly.

"My neighbour ran out after hearing me screaming but it was too late then.
