Woman rushed to hospital with serious injuries following stabbing in Denton

A woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing in Denton this afternoon.

The incident happened in Ashworth Street just after 1.30pm today (January 8).

Police and paramedics attended and found a 48-year-old woman with serious injuries.

They are not believed to be life-threatening.

Pictures taken earlier today showed a large emergency service presence at the scene. A large police cordon was in place.

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land nearby.

Initial enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made, a spokesman for GMP said.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police were called shortly after 1.35pm today (Friday 8 January) by NWAS to a report of a stabbing at an address on Ashworth Street, Denton.

“Emergency services attended and a 48-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Initial enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
