Woman rushed to hospital with serious injuries after car careers down hill near Falkirk

A 52-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash near Falkirk on Wednesday.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the M876 eastbound, just before Junction 3 Bowtrees, after 5pm.

A white white Vauxhall Corsa travelling towards the Kincardine Bridge left the carriageway and continued down a steep embankment before crashing into some trees.

The woman was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and a 45-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Cops are appealing for information to establish the circumstances of the crash.

Inspector Peter Houston, of Police Scotland’s Forth Valley Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing to other road users who may have witnessed the crash to get in contact with police.

“One woman has sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are keen to establish the full circumstances.

“I would ask if anyone was driving in the area at the time or has possible dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation that they get in touch with officers.

“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2340 of 24/02/21.”
