Woman rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after being hit by van on Scots road

A woman was rushed to hospital after being knocked down by a van.

Police are appealing for information following the serious road crash on Drumbathie Road, Airdrie, on Tuesday March 16.

The crash happened around 5.45pm at the junction with Motherwell Street and involved a Vauxhall Combo van and a pedestrian.

A 61-year-old woman pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Monklands with serious injuries while the 29-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.

The road was closed for two hours while officers carried out investigation work and reopened around 7.50pm.

Sergeant Craig McDonald, of the Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have seen what happened or has any information about the crash to get in touch.

“In addition we are asking anyone with dash-cam footage who may have been travelling in the area at the time to check for anything that may help our investigation to also get in touch.”
