A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash on a busy main road in Bolton. Emergency services blocked off Blackburn Road (A666) after the crash which involved two vehicles close to the Tramways Hotel at around 5pm on Thursday (February 2).
Police cordoned off a large stretch of the road, as paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
Pictures and videos from the scene show two badly damaged cars at the junction with Ulleswater Street, with a huge emergency services response.

It has since been confirmed that one woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital from the scene. It is not believed her injuries are serious. It is not known if any arrests were made in connection with the crash.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) announced the road closure, which caused heavy congestion in the nearby area during rush hour. Bus services were also temporarily diverted.

The update read: Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge. Road closed between Astley St and Waters Meeting Rd while the emergency services deal with a collision. Re-route or re-time your journey to avoid delays."
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further details.
