Woman 'jumps from bridge' into traffic on busy road

A woman has been rushed to hospital after reportedly 'jumping from a bridge' over one of Liverpool's busiest roads.

Police and ambulance crew were called to Dunnings Bridge Road in Netherton, at 10.21am today (October 30) to treat the woman near to the Park Hotel.

The ECHO was contacted by witnesses who said a woman had fallen from a bridge.

Another eyewitness described the scene as "horrendous."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed officers had been called to assist ambulance crew who were treating the woman at the scene.

The spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services were in Bootle following an incident this morning, Saturday 30 October.

"At around 10.25am, a woman was found injured, having reportedly jumped from a bridge at the junction of Dunningsbridge Road and Park Lane.

"She was taken to hospital for assessment of serious injuries.

"A road closure was in place but the road has now been reopened."
